Mark's Favorite Cherries Jubilee Recipe

(family recipe handed down from generation to generation)


Ingredients

14-oz. can dark cherries
2   tablespoons of corn starch
3

lemon slices (or 3 squirts of lemon juice)
1/2   tsp. cinnamon
4

tablespoons of brown sugar
1/2
  cup brandy, warmed

Directions
  1. Drain juice off cherries into a saucepan.
  2. Thicken juice with corn starch.
  3. Add lemon slices to cherry sauce.
  4. Add cherries back into the sauce and heat until cherries are warmed up.
  5. Remove lemon slices and place cherry mixture into a small casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. NOTE: Do NOT stir in.
  7. Carefully pour the warm brandy onto the cherry sauce.
  8. Light with match and allow alcohol to burn off.
  9. Stir and serve over vanilla ice cream.
